Within shooting range
I was lagging behind again, trying to get a recording of a Whipbird that was calling from somewhere in the undergrowth, when Hans called to me.

He'd spotted a female Paradise Riflebird up in a tree, I managed just this shot and one of her backside!

One of the birds of paradise, of course and the only one I saw.

A great name for this species and nicely captured D!

Such a long beak on this beauty. To share your pain I have seen a lot of rare bird to me in my parts to only maybe to see them once more for the year but they can't take that away from you because you have that memory and tomorrow is another day. Thanks, Delia. Is Hans a german friend? I remember living in Germany as a child and as an adult and that name was common for the German man.

There's much more than a taste of paradise
about this shot, D.; it's dripping with
the full flavour of it.
Heavenly.
