Wonder who drilled this hole? (Dryocopus pileatus)

Finally was able to catch a photo of the Pileated on the side of our front yard. We have a wooded area between ours and our neighbor's. I find it hard to get them because they only stay in the wooded sections of our yard and never come close to say hello!! lol

You've two great pictures of this bird Pam... are they responsible for the big hole?

Now, what you want to do, is to get a rotten tree like that, and dig it in where you want them to come so you can get your pictures. Bound to work! ;)

Lol, it appears she is a he! Brilliant capture and picture of this handsome chap. It does appear that the other side of the tree is a bit windier. Two fabulous posts Pam! TFS!!!!!!!
