Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
I thought this was a red-bellied when I first spotted it but a pleasant surprise as they are much rarer here. The only bird I photographed this morning, cold and overcast and I didn't bring a jacket! Dummy! At Huntington Beach State Park, SC

Brilliant close-up of this beautiful sapsucker. Great head turn with marvelous eye contact. Terrific Bob!

That's a right lovely looking woodpecker Bob and you've taken a grand picture of him too my friend.

Many thanks for showing him to us lad.

He blends right in against that tree trunk. The only one of these I’ve ever seen close enough to photograph was an immature one, and the markings weren’t as sharp or bright as this one of yours.
