Yellow eye
... well an eye ring really. This becomes more pronounced as part of their breeding plumage, though I'd have thought the first week in January was a bit early?

He seems to like the pink nibbles that I threw on the ground.

What a great close-up of this handsome fellow with that marvelous yellow eye ring and bill contrasting with its jet black plumage. First-rate D!
