Yellow-eyed Junco
A

Yellow-eyed Junco (Junco phaeonotus)

In Portal, Arizona or near there, up in some sort of Nature Research Center (if I remember right), heading up into or near the Chiricahua National Park in SouthEast Arizona. This little Junco was a real treat for me. It was one of the birds I definitely wanted to see on this trip. It flew up next to us in the car as we were leaving. These birds are basically identical to the dark eyed junco except for the eyes and the fact that these will also walk around in big strides while the dark eyed only hops about.
