This bird was photographed while on a business trip from South Africa in a suburban garden in Kitwe, Zambia, largely planted with exotic tree species. It had a single note call, rather yappy, repeated every few seconds, which initially had me thinking it was a small dog across the street! This was possibly the contact call. The throat has the feintest tinge of yellow dead centre. It was photographed at 1/60 sec at f5.6 only 30 minutes after sunrise so the colours may not be true, but the head is a very definite slate grey compared to the brownish overall appearance of the rest of the bird, with maybe a rufous tail.
