Yellow Wagtail (Motacilla flava)

These seemed to be the commonest winter migrant present in the Rift Valley. Many subspecies/races were represented but trying to identify them in winter plumage proved too difficult. Decided to lump them all together and call them Yellow Wagtals.

water meadow
Location
Lake Ziway, Ethiopia
Date taken
nov 2008
Scientific name
Motacilla flava
Equipment used
Canon 40D + 400mm DO
Yeh, found it troublesome to ID the sub-species of the (and the White) wagtail. A cracking shot, whatever sub-species it is!
