I notice Opus says this has a dark eye, but my guidebook ('SASOL Birds of Southern Africa') states a red eye. Needs checking out.

Yeah.... that 'dark eye' was copied from some source on the net. Though the picture on the article does, indeed, show a dark eye. Maybe it's an age/sex thing?

As you say, research needed.

He sure does have the most beautiful eye, doesn't he.
