You tell me - Groove-billed Ani or not? (Corythaixoides concolor)

In Gilbert Arizona, USA. This is a bird that I'm sure was out of it's normal area. My dad thought it was a Groove-billed Ani, but it doesn't quite look like the other one's of that name on this site. Anyone know?
Habitat
Southern Africa
Location
Gilbert Arizona, USA
Date taken
Feb 5, 2008
Scientific name
Corythaixoides concolor
Equipment used
Canon 20D, 100-400mm
well the beak is too small for a smooth or groove bill ! and neither have a crest like that so I don't know what it is... well caught

Not. It's a Grey Lourie, an African species.

Excellent shot, Tony. Think he must be an escape from somewhere.

Well, it looks very happy in Arizona - probably because it's escaped from its cage! :'D A splendid shot, you certainly made the most of this surprise encounter. All the best to the bird as well, may it continue to fly free! :t:
