New species for Opus (1 Viewer)

It is a lovely bird isn't it Doux. Problematic scientific name!;)

LOL so it is not new, and what a fabulous shots there is for it in the gallery.

was so happy to know that it is the same one we get over here, i only saw the female once, it is more widespread through the southern heights and in Yemen.

thanks Delia.

Hi again!!! :hi:

Not exactly a new species but it is only the second upload (apparently, ;)), and better than the older pic

Once more, I only point at it and leave the update of Opus to the consideration of the Mods.

And loads of thanks for the attention you pay to my contributions, cheers!!!

Edit: and found this a bit later, I'm surprised that after two days nothing seems to have been done about it. Not found? Not clear taxonomic state? I point this one too then, just in case it was not spotted:

Thanks Marian,
The second one uploaded! I would have come around to this one eventually, just had not used much time in the gallery the last couple of days

you are most welcome Delia.

another one is the Sylvia mystacea, the Menetries’s Warbler, the photo on OPUS is for the female, which i think is a superb one as she is very difficult to spot leave alone to get such lovely shot, and here is a fantastic shot for the male which is more likely to be seen

i think one of the best shots i ever seen for this beautiful warbler. and Rashed also uploaded a mega fantastic shot for the female

hope you like them.

Ruaha Chat

Hi all

Very recently the White-headed Black Chat Myrmecocichla arnotti had a split when the collaris race (in Tanzania and Rwanda) was recommended as a valid taxon and becoming "Ruaha Chat" Myrmecocichla collaris.

I have a photo of this species female from Rwanda showing the white collar very well - in Rwanda they don't inhabit miombo woodland like across the border in Tanzania but human habitations and nest in roofs etc.

Managed to find the abstract for the relevant paper on this http://www.springerlink.com/content/j11106w673628434/

My photo is at http://www.flickr.com/photos/marcell_claassen/3802727461/ which I'll happily upload if you guys are happy with this as a new species.

There's also a thread in the Taxonomy & Nomenclature section on BF http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=176575

Cheers
Marcell

The opus waits until the world wide checklists have accepted new splits before adding these as full pages. However, we try to mention such proposed splits in the text and show images of all forms of a given bird, so we would like to use your image in that way. You should upload to the Gallery first, though.

thanks
Niels
