Short Trip to Switzerland for Mornells (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I visited Cassonsgrad near Flims for the Mornells ( I have never seen before ).

7 birs I found, which are not really shy.

Also 2 x Goldeneagles, 1 x Barded Vulture and 1 x Rock Trush ( I have never seen before ) was there.
The common mountain birds like Black Redstart, Snow Finch, Water Pipit and Nutcracker are easy to find.

On the way back I made a short visit to lake Bodensee.
I saw
1 x Sanderling
1 x Greenshank
1 x Curlew
1 x Bar-tailed Godwit
7 x Wheatear
many Long-tailed Tit, Chiffchaff
some Lesser Whitethroat

Before I reached Munich I visited Hurlacher Heide near Landsberg ( 60 km west of Munich ).
I saw
Firecrest
Lesser Whitethroat
and a Wesp Spider ( Argiope, I have never seen before in Germany only in south Pacific ).

But I was not there for birds and spiders. I was there for orchids and found some Spiranthes spirales ( I have never seen before ).

It was in about 2.700 m altitude.

It is almost the same altitude like Diadem Sandpiper Plover in El Yeso, not far from Santiago de Chile.

could you give a bit more info. Snowfinch and Nutcracker are birds i would love to see. Where did you go o see these birds exactly, and where is nearest airport?

See here in the Opus: Cassonsgrat

Both species are relatively easy in Switzerland and I could give you more locations. Airports are Zurich (for Cassonsgrat) or Geneva for some other locations (like Leukerbad)

Nutcracker is really easy to find in higher mountain forest altitude ( very noisy ).
Snowfinch I saw mostly in spring and early summer, in areas where is still some snow ( e.g. Dolomites at Rosentgarten, Maloja pass in the Engadin in Switzerland, just around hut Pforzheimer Huette in the valley Sellrain of Tirol - Austria ).

Next airport to Flims at Cassonsgrat I suppose is Zuerich ?

Munich City center is about 300 km away.

I will go almost every weekend in the mountain, but I am not a professional tour guide ( only for spartime ).

If i could find Nutcracker, Snowfinch, Rock Thrush, I would be more than happy. Maybe a trip next August, or would they be quite easy in spring? Anyone know the best months? For access to monutains snow wise, and when the birds are possibly showy?

Nutcracker: In winter in the villages (eg Davos, Arosa, Pontresina and many more), in spring in the forest, usually findable and showy.
Rock Thrush: Has more or less left now. Best time is June and July for this species, some good sites are Bannwald, Riederalp (not only for this species!) and some other localities.
Snowfinch: Easy in winter in skiing stations like Nätschen near Andermatt. In spring also easy at Schilthorn for example. More difficult in August when they disperse in the high alps but still doable (Schilthorn).

If you contact me before you come I can give you some recent information. Most difficult one on your list will be Rock Thrush.
