was pretty happy with the ID of this in the field, but when I uploaded my pics, a couple of features confused me. I've now looked at it too many times and have ID mental block, any thoughts?

Fair enough. I wasn't confident, hence the question mark. On my phone the facial pattern struck me as Peregrine like but on closer inspection I can see the Hobby features

Reckon it's an immature hobby, because its wings are shorter and wider than an adult's, leading it to look like a juv peregrine.

No, It'a adult. It's just the blurring of the shot.

Juvs are very much still in the nest in the UK.

I guess Nordicraptorlad meant second calendar year Hobby with immature which indeed still have juvenile outer primaries so not impossible at all but I also agree there are a lot of blurring artefacts here
