Hi
ID's required for the following warblers, all pictures taken in March in Northern Thailand, near Chiang Saen. I think most of them are probably Dusky Warblers!
Many thanks
Tony

1, 2, and 5 are Dusky.

3 and 4 are bradypterus/locustella. This can be told by the pale feet and especially the white tips to the dark undertail coverts.

Your options are Chinese, Spotted, Russet or Baikal Bush Warbler. I'll need some research before giving an opinion on a notoriously challenging group.

Cheers
Mike

Thanks for that. We did see Baikal Bush Warbler there, but it was more obvious than the 2 birds in the photos.
Thanks again
Tony

Not sure how you pinned that one down, Grahame!

Emarginated 3 & 4 whereas Spotted, which is v.rare in Thailand, is emarginated 3,4 & 5. I have not seen Spotted but imagine they have warmer upperparts and usually narrower, pale tips to the utc's. I believe the reduced spotting on the throat makes it a 1st-winter.

Here's a Baikal Bush Warbler that spent a few weeks in a shopping centre flowerbed in Hong Kong in January, showing the emarginations pretty well.

Cheers
Mike
