Nikon service (1 Viewer)

Well Nikon will not provide the eyecups for the superior E any longer, you have to send them in.Nikon has no consistency with their service. If anyone has an extra pair part # 7636 (10X42 or 8X32) they fit either one, please PM me.
I am starting to get frustrated with their customer service, and wondering if it worth buying their products in the future. If Leica can repair a Leitz binocular from the mid 1980s why can't Nikon. It is really beginning to get me frustrated, an pis...ed off.

I wanted another set of eyecups, for another 10X42 SE, so now Nikon is not sending any out here in the US. I bought another 10X42 SE from Europe for a family member who like to use them and so I am in a bit of a pickle. It is really a shame that Nikon porros are being phased out. A simple part - what a shame.

If Nikon is not going to stock simple replacement parts for the SE like the rubber eye cups that wear out with time the SE's are not going to be a good binocular to own in the future.

Eyecups for the SE 10x42 binoculars

Report I must:
Nikon sent me two rubber replacement eyecups for my Superior E (I have an early version of the binocs) 10 x 42 porros.

I have no real idea how I got so lucky. I had a nice phone conversation with a Nikon tech about the eyecup situation from the viewpoint of a longtime SE owner, i.e., the inconvenience of having to send the binoculars in just to replace these simple rubber pieces, etc. I think maybe he took pity on me.

Anyway, Nikon Service did right by me in this instance.

It appears there is hope if you speak the right person. I have been corresponding with a service rep who is adamant that the bins must be sent in.

This seems to be their new policy. I was told that I should send my EDG in if I want the eyecups replaced with new ones, an operation that requires absolutely no skills and is even simpler than replacing the SE eyecups, which requires some ...pulling.
