January 1st joint Birdforum list (2019 edition) (1 Viewer)

Got 101 species in southern California on 1 January, including a life bird - a species I have missed on several occasions over the years, California Gnatcatcher.

Will upload list fairly soon.

The US list is looking pretty good, with Jos still to be added. I've had a PM reporting a UK Bewick's Swan, which technically doesn't count as it's not a participant in this thread but it's nice to know they're actually out there. Holy crap Jos! That's quite a list guy!

Was a pretty good day. Three main sites were the Trump National Golf for California Gnatcatcher, the urban Los Angeles river near Long Beach which was pretty amazing (despite not seeing the main bird I was looking for, Scissor-tailed Flycatcher ...but saw yesterday) and Bolsa Chica, which is always totally amazing.
Warblers were mostly in Huntington Central Park.

Sorry this is late, but can add three from the Selsey Peninsula to the UK list:

Kittiwake
Cattle Egret (26)
Black Redstart

Friends saw the Hooded Crow, but it had departed by the time I arrived and our Green Sandpipers went AWOL on New Years Day.

I did my big day on 2nd January (appointment to watch Pompey on 1st) and saw 101 species on the Peninsula, but those do not count!
