The Chough were on the Hereford side of British Camp for 2 hours mainly feeding in the top rampart being bothered by C, Crows, not to worried by all watching . About 7.15 pm they finally took flight chased again by crows this time going over to the Worcestershire side diving down towards the reservoir direction.

Walton Hill 26.08.2019

An enjoyable few hours (11:00 to 15:00) were spent at Walton Hill today, highlights were 4 Wheatear (1 fem & 3 juv) at Walton Hill Farm paddock and also a Male Common Redstart in the hedgerow along the bottom slope of the paddock. Other notable sightings included Raven, ChiffChaff, Common Buzzard, Kestrel, Jay. Plenty of birds heard including Blackcap, Common Whitethroat, Nuthatch and Bullfinch. We were pleased with our sightings being as it was quite hot up there!

Looking forward to Autumn passage in this area!

House Martins still feeding young nestlings at Hunnington nr Halesowen today. (3 faetal sacs ejected as I was observing them) Not unheard of this late in the year I know but nice to see. Also a few swallows about, c6-8.

Spent the morning at Clifton where a good 43 species were seen, with some of the commoner birds not seen, so I dare say a good total could be achieved if one spent the day there.

1 Great White Egret, 3 Little Egret, Grey Heron, Cormorant, Buzzard, Kestrel, 1 Hobby, Mute Swan, Canada Goose, Greylag Goose, 2 Egyptian Goose, Mallard, Tufted Duck, Great Crested Grebe, Little Grebe, Coot, Lapwing, Black-Headed Gull, Herring Gull, Lesser Black-Backed Gull, Woodpigeon, Stock Dove, Collared Dove, Swallow, House Martin, Sand Martin, Raven, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, Magpie, Blackbird, Robin, Dunnock, Wren, Starling, 3 Wheatear, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long-Tailed Tit, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Goldfinch, Linnet and House Sparrow.

The water level seemed a little too high for waders, and this proved to be the case as only Lapwing were seen.

50 species were managed this morning at Clifton-

Mute Swan, Canada Goose, Greylag Goose, Mallard, 3 Wigeon, 2 Gadwall, Shoveler, Teal, Tufted Duck, Coot, Moorhen, Little Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, 4 Little Egret, Grey Heron, Cormorant, Buzzard, Kestrel, 1 Hobby, only 1 Lapwing, 1 Black-Tailed Godwit over but failed to land, B-H Gull, Herring Gull, LB-B Gull, Woodpigeon, Stock Dove, Collared Dove, Jackdaw, Magpie, Carrion Crow, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long-Tailed Tit, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Kingfisher Blackbird, Robin, Dunnock, Wren, Starling, Chiffchaff, Swallow, House Martin, Goldfinch, Linnet, Meadow Pipit, House Sparrow, Reed Bunting, Pied Wagtail and 3 Yellow Wagtail.

Walton Hill 08.09.19

Highlights at Walton Hill this afternoon were 2 Female Whetear in the paddock near Walton Hill Farm and a Spotted Flycatcher in the trees on the edge of the paddock - was a nice surprise to find! Other sightings included 2 Peregrine over, 4+ Raven over, 8+ Swallows and a group of 12-14 Mistle Thrush to the East of Walton Hill farm in distant horse paddocks. Also lots of calling Chiffchaff and also one in full song.

Eagerly awaiting the first Ring Ouzel sighting so will keep a close check on the area in the coming weeks!

We tried Walton Hill this morning from 7.15-8.50am and managed 28 species but little in the way of migrants.

50+ Canada Goose were flying around fields further down in the valley, 1 Sparrowhawk, 40 Woodpigeon, 5 Stock Dove, 2 Raven, 3 Jay, Carrion Crow, Magpie, Jackdaw, Blackbird, 1 Song Thrush, Robin, Dunnock, Wren, GSW, Green Woodpecker, Blue Tit, Great Tit, 1 Coal Tit, 3 Long-Tailed Tit, 2 Swallow, 3 Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Linnet and 5 Meadow Pipit over.

Also 1 Red Fox was in the fields adjacent to the horse paddocks.

It was very surreal - hundreds of people dressed as santa, running past a Great Northern Diver on a canal in Kidderminster.

A local woman suggested she'd seen two of them - I only saw one bird, but a friend (Mick Cooper) took these two pics, and there's a bit of a debate about whether they show one bird or two, or whether it's a trick of the light?

Peregrine juvenile (no doubt young to previous post) spotted down stream of Bewdley by Ribbesford sandy cliffs.

Few pics plus Heron with water vole and Grey Wagtail.

7 Little Egrets along with Greylags, Canada Geese and Mallards in Bewdley town next to A456 bridge.

Peregrine Falcon hunting in the valley then showing well on dead trees.
2 noisy buzzards also hunting and perched just 50m from PF.
2 GS Woodpecker along with Chiffchaff, Willow & Reed Warblers, Wren, Tits, Gulls, Mute Swan pair, Robins, Green Finch and 50 + Martins swooping in the valley

Yes you're right....I hadn't looked close enough. There's no white neck band, black cheek flash or brown head on the male.
