From Sunday ,CLP,s not much change but a group of common terns 7 , including 4 young were both at the pits and along the river. Redstarts still , hard to estimate how many but an adult Male was among them + the juveniles are now showing with more adult Male colouring as well. 6-8. While watching the Redstarts a Peregrine flew over heading towards the pits at around 10:00 am. Later a Green Sandpiper was at the pits on the West shore but was elusive , probably due to a fox hunting in the reedy patches.

Thursday evening very warm with temp. 22c when I left at 9:30, CLP, juvenile Shelduck West shore as well as a young Fox down to 2 metres. First Snipe of the Autumn. 6 Egrets roosted.

CLP.... early this morning....Hippo Pool

Phil from Quinton and myself saw what we pretty well thought was a Green Sandpiper as per Isaac ...photos below. Summer plumage Teal on Hippo.

Common Terns and Juvenile on main lake.

I'll stick my neck out and say green - broad bars on tail, very dark colouring, not much of a supercilium, no pattern on flanks. One problem is the lack of complete breast stripes.

3 Snipes and a Dunlin this morning....early.

Few pics from this morning.....
Snipe, Little Grebe, Dabchick, Dunlin surrounded by Geese & Gulls

Thursday evening overcast but warm ,on arrival didnt seem to much about but on walking the North causeway 2 Hobbies in the dead tree and 9 Little Egrets . On getting closer to the Hobbies another look from a more elevated view revealed 14 Egrets. At 8:15 this had increased to !9 , time to get the stool out . 8:25 i had equalled my personal best of 22 , and smashed it with 28 at 8:35. Wow.
During this time roughly 350 Canada's came in and a further 200 duck . The Hobbies were performing , hunting over the wood or in the dead tree all the time .
A few photo's from visits over the week.

Sunday morning started with an aerial display Peregrine versus Lapwing and unfortunately like me the Peregrine failed to get any breakfast. Next up a Hobby in dead oak , west shore wood . Cetti's called from North causeway and another from the South end . Water rail East shore was only the second bird seen or heard this year.
After making my way through all the new sign-age along the river Redstart and Green Sandpiper seen towards end of Wagon wheel lane .
The start of duck season, with a Wigeon , 1/2 dozen all so Shoveller and 3 Pochard .
53 species seen .

Beautiful morning ....busy with quite a few birders.

Highlights....2 Snipe, Dunlin, Kingfisher, Green Woodpecker, Peregrine Falcon, Whinchat, Kestrel, 5 Lite Egrets, Shoveller, Widgeon, Lapwings, Hobby, Tufted Duck, 3 Grey Heron.

Sunday morning ,CLP's Yellow Wagtail South, Hobby North, Kingfisher Green Sandpiper and my first Dunlin at Grimley this year!. Whinchat North end Hippo, West area ,that's confused you, and another with 6-12 Stonechats Church farm meadows .
7 Wigeon flew in from the North and 6 Skylarks heading South.
No sign of the Black Tern seen on Saturday but was not expecting to see it .
Nice walk around with Carl and good luck to the enthusiastic young birder who took a peep through my scope at the Whinchat.
