Pole stakes for bird feeding station (1 Viewer)

What kind of stakes should I use for a bird feeding station pole? I realized what causes the bird feeding station to slighly move back. The water bowl on the bottom which I use for food has to twist many times back and forth to come off so doing this for years was digging inside the hole where the pole is. People who bought the same bird feeder also say it moves for them also. But I see other bird feeders who have the same water bowl on the bottom that has to be twisted to come off also.


I found some. I need the same thing or something similar. The only reason this one will not work is because the round part that goes around the pole does not open. I need one that opens and closes. It's for a bird feeding station and the diameter is 3/4 or 1 inch. I like these stakes because they are easy to put and it really stops the pole so it won't move. I don't want to use a rope like they use for trees. I don't want that to be visible.

Your link didn't work for me. Is this the anchor system you were looking at? I can't see that this type of anchor is going to help much. It may help some initially, but the small diameter spikes won't provide as much resistance to lateral movement as the pole, and will soon loosen up and you will have the original problem.

A stabilizer system like this would be much more effective as it attaches rigidly to the pole with a thumbscrew. However, it does slip over the pole. Could you just disassemble the upper part of your pole to slide it on?

You could also try tamping dirt around the pole to tighten it. This is how we always set fence posts. We dig a larger hole, set the post, and then pack the dirt tightly around the post as we back-filled the hole. You may be able to just pack the dirt around the post with a digging bar, adding more dirt or rocks as needed.

I put 40 lbs of rocks around the pole, but it still moves. I don't want to use dirt because I see negative reviews on dirt and sand. That's why I used rocks. Now I want to use stakes.
