Hello there! Please tell me, Nikon EDG 7x42 - EDG 8x32 are approximately the same size, but with different weights!

7x42 field of view 140m, exit pupil 6 mm, eye relief 22.1 mm!

I just spent the last week comparing a 7x42 vs a 8x42 (Leica Ultravid vs Zeiss SF).
I see no notable difference between x7 and x8: same amount of details. The 42 was easier when it comes to eye placement and made a difference in very low light.
I finally chose to keep only the 8x32 as I use my binoculars mostly during daytime and I'm weight sensitive as I carry them on top of photo equipment.
Your mileage may vary and if it were my main "tool" instead of a camera, I would probably have gone with the 7x42.

Hi,

I have both glasses, the difference in magnification is noticeable to me!
The picture impression differs a little, the 8x32 has the larger AFOV, you are "more in the picture".
The color rendering is almost identical, both binoculars have a rather "warm" color saturation, the 7x42 is a tad brighter, even during the day.
The view is good with both glasses, with and without eyeglasses.
The 7x42 is perhaps a bit more universal as it still offers enough light in poor visibility conditions, e.g. at dusk.

Why did you choose these two models?
The EDG are absolute alpha glasses.

Thank you very much! You can buy them at a good price from us yet! I am interested in removing the pupil is large and the field is wider!

The EDG 7x42 is larger and heavier than the EDG 8x32 but not too much. I agree with Andreas, the 7x42 is probably a better universal binocular but it does have less apparent field of view than the 8x32 if that is something that matters to you.

The 8x32 EDG are my favourite binoculars. Can't comment on the 7x42 but I prefer my 8x32 EDG to my 7x42 UV HD+.

My 8x32 set: ELSV, FL, SE and EDG, and the EDG is my favorite too----the FoV could have been a bit wider, but the view thru the EDG is so relaxing and the colors so natural.

Hello,
Yes it was delivered within package, along with some plastic cover for it. The winged eyecups look much better than Field Optics Research ones, they are thick, precise and easy to place and remove. But OTOH the covers for them look not nice. I tied them over a smal key ring, so they are holding together, including the cleaning cloth from Docter (this I saved from my older binocular).

From application perspective this is more question of weight, than magnification.
I have 7x42, which I bought due low price at one shop (1000euro less than standard price, as the 7x were not moving but sitting in shelf) as the woodpecker watching tool.
I simply not care of higher weight, main reason for 7x was depth of view which allow easier orientation in dense forest up to dusk as 6mm pupil. The 8x32 is better as all-around travel covering more situations, and easy to carry in small pack when biking/hiking. 8x is better for meadows and fields than 7x. For raptor watching I used 10x or 12x, here the ED glass is way more important than with lower magnifications.

The EDG 8x32 and 7x42 are both excellent binoculars and choosing between them it just depends on how you are going to use them. If I was hiking a lot I would probably choose the 8x32 for the lighter weight but for low light use and closer in birding I would probably choose the 7x42. The 8x32 has bigger AFOV than the 7x42 which will give it a more immersive view but the 7x42 has the advantage of better DOF and it is much easier to hold steady. With a 7x you just pop it up to your eyes and use them and a lot of times you don't even have to focus. They are a very easy comfortable binocular to use.
