October Moths (1 Viewer)

Well, zero experience, but it matches up well and nothing else it can be? Nice colour variation!

Wasn't raining quite so hard earlier, so the trap is now ON ... good move or bad move, we'll see (winds up to 38mph with 55mph gusts by dawn ;) ) Good direction though, mild, cloud cover and not raining all the time ...

Agreed! I had a look on line (always the last thing I think of doing) and found a couple of photos that matched quite well, but all the ones I've had through the summer were classic grey examples so this one was a bit of a shock. But a nice shock. :t:

My trap is out again tonight, bit of drizzle but I expect to gain from the cloud more than I lose from any rain. No significant wind till tomorrow lunchtime I think.

Good luck with yours!

John

Warm night but a tad breezy and ended up with just a LBAM, a Red-green Carpet (2nd of year following one in April) and Blair's Shoulder-knot NFY.

Tonight is warm but 60%+ chance of rain for much of the time so won't be bothering.

Steve

Three November aggs & a Red-line Quaker overnight. Not exactly hold the front page, but it puts off that inevitable first blank night....

Well, it was already 20mph winds when I put the trap out last night, so, although min temp was 12C ... ;)

Beaded Chestnut 1

Trap was still there, but the most water in it so far.

Last night was not too good. Weather app said dry, but it rained non-stop so in the end I dried the actinic and put it away at 22:30.
2 Beaded Chestnut, 1 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 2 Lesser Yellow Underwing, 1 November Moth agg, 1 Common Plume and 1 LBAM.
Running MV tonight till midnight (pre-rain).

Similarly, I caught no moths in my caddis fly trap last night.

The trap remained on overnight, and although I overslept badly, there were moths this morning (no caddis flies though, they've dried up in the last week ;) )

Common Marbled Carpet 2, worn
Dark Sword-grass 1
Pearly Underwing 1 NFG
November Moth agg 1 NFG

So a reasonable haul in the end in the circumstances perhaps. The November Moth got away before photos/proper look though, and the Pearly Underwing was the only moth actually in the trap.
