Swan in yard (1 Viewer)

Hello! There has been a swan in our enclosed yard for 12 hours. It doesn’t appear injured as it has been walking around and moving/stretching wings, but it hasn’t attempted to fly. Most of the time it has sat or stood by our back door, which seems strange. Should we be concerned? Should we do anything for it?
Thanks for your advice!

Hi

I am no swan expert, but it will almost certainly not have enough room to fly out - they need a long “run up”. I would contact the RSPCA and let them handle it !

It won't have the runway space it needs for takeoff. Lead it out of the garden - it'll likely follow you if it sees you with some bread - and to a large field or similar, or a nearby pond/lake if there is one.

PS welcome to Birdforum!
