Thanks that's good to know - I'm going to look out my suitcases first and hunt in the pockets and liners. Having said that theres no mention of these lugs in the little instruction book that came with them.

What do you mean former? It's only recently we shipped off some ginger undesirable to Los Angeles.

I seem to recall reading that there was some kind of disagreement over the arrangement a couple of hundred years ago, which pretty well settled the question.

Perhaps I was misinformed.

My EL 8x32 FPs didn't come with strap converter lugs in the box, so perhaps it is a UK thing. I will have to send Swarovski an email, although I am quite happy with the FP strap system. One of the few apparently.

The EL. 8x32 FP that I recently bought here in the states from B&H, DID come with the converters. They were in a small zip - lock bag along with a spare set of the screws and a note card inside saying the spares were in case you lost any. The spacers for the objective covers were alone in a separate tiny box.

I returned the 8x32EL and bought the 8v42 NL which had the converters packaged in the same small box holding the spacers for the ojective covers. There were no extra screws and no note. (I guess extra screws were not provided with the NLs because its screws lock and unlock with more difficulty, making them more difficult to lose.)

Hello! For birdwatching I currently own a Swarovski EL 8.5x42 FieldPro and Kowa 883 Spotting Scope. My wife and daughters often use an inexpensive Nikon Aculon T01 10x21, or share my binoculars.

I'm looking to purchase an upgrade from the Nikon and I'm considering these models:

CL Companion 10x30 Wild Nature
CL Companion 8x30 Wild Nature
CL Pocket 10x25 Wild Nature
CL Pocket 8x25 Wild Nature

While I'd love to get the EL 8x32, I feel they'll be more than my family needs and I prefer something a bit lighter for my daughters. I want something more compact that I can also use on the go or to put into a backpack.

Hoping to get some input to narrow down my choices.. I suspect the 8x magnification will have less shake for my daughters (both under 10). I won't have the opportunity to try them for myself as I'll be ordering online.

I have the 8x30 CL and 8x32 EL. My daughters (9 and 11 years old) too likes the CL because of the weight and size. They feel comfy using it.
