Most likely yes......you can see the yellow pollen from the blossom. It was probably searching for prey items that were hidden in the buds and flowers and hence got covered in the stuff.
 
Not Blackthorn?

Agree pollen - pollen beetles or other invertebrates, although presumably there is nectar available too if not much in the way of other food sources.
 
I agree with pollen around the beak. Wasnt there a similar yellow-coloured Lesser Whitethroat (from Israel?) featured as a mystery bird in British Birds many years ago?
