Green Sandpiper now at 4. 5 B.W. Stilt (6 yesterday) but some new birds.

Yesterday I noticed increased insect activity over the lagoon. Just now there are Swallows and possibly other hirundines overhead, first time noticed this year.

Garganey pair seen. Green Sandpipers up to 8 but spooked. One medium-sized bird of prey seen briefly soaring but no detail available..

Flock of yellow wagtails just arrived on Green Sand Island (17:43-44ish their time). At least 5-6 seen.

Redshanks and Dunlins (new this year) have shown up. Also two undentified large, heron-type flying over some time back.:

Reviewing the brief footage at 11:32 ff I suddenly realised that the two large 'heron-type' birds flying over were in fact Ospreys (whose loafing flight, I have notced in calm conditions, rather resembles that of Grey Heron at times):

Female Marsh Harrier attack dives, and two mins later the male (note pale tail) rises from a nearby clump.

There are actually two hides, plus the big building.

Most of the sightings registered as "Urdaibai Bird Center" (yep, they used the American spelling) have been made from the building itself, that username is used by the staff.

The other two hides offer different viewing angles. An advantage of the main building is a high tower (between 6 and 12 m, I don't remember).

Several bird of prey species have been seen from the Center which I hope might show up over or near to the lagoon, though because of the distances they might be difficult to see properly. I can imagine Black Kites, for instance, coming down to water (they occasionally fish).

Up to 20 Green Sandpiper today all currently on Green Sand Island, I couldn't spot any obvious Commons among them, though some spent most the time hunched up obscuring some features (colours seemed mostly the same). Also one greyish pipit too far away to ID properly, possibly Water.
