Norfolk birding (7 Viewers)

Understandably with the lockdown this thread has gone a bit quiet again so here is a quick bump. A few years ago I regularly saw Sanderlings sprinting along the water's edge at Gorleston but I hadn't seen any for a couple of years. As our exercise walks during the pandemic take place in this area I have been looking out for them without success. However last week we finally came across one on the pier and this morning we had three running around our feet. What delightful little birds. Unfortunately I leave my camera at home at the moment during the present situation which is frustrating. Sod's law!

At least half a dozen Ring-necked Parakeets at the 'new' site by the River Yare this morning...

Hi fellow birders, got a bit confused as to how many golden orioles were actually in Norfolk today. Think I made it 4 but not certain. Also how many grey headed wagtails have been reported in the last couple of weeks

Hi Tony!
No-one seems to read / respond to this forum any more :(
According to the RBA pager and website, the maximum seemed to be eight at one time - but, of course, some could have been multiple sightings of the same individuals 'coasting'.

Nobody seems to look at this forum any more....
Nine Bee-eaters at Gapton Hall Est. Yarmouth this afternoon. Nice to meet so many old acquaintances, including Penny C...

Seeing as nobody looks at these pages anymore, is there any point in asking if there's any information about the red flanked bluetail today. Sorry

Stilts at Hickling and Bee-eaters at Yarmouth still...

Maybe not the best site to ask on but any gem on the possible sardinian warbler at Snettisham, thanks

Not the most inspiring report, must likely duff. No mention of the Eleonora's falcon reported from Cley yesterday either, I guess that is part of the now expected pattern of summer "records"! ;)

It's not unusual to see a kittiwake flying off the coast, but today there were two fighting with a black-headed gull over a chip on the beach at Winterton. First time I've seen them running around the feet of holiday makers - is this new or did I just not get the memo?

Anyone know of any sites in Norfolk to see Rock Pipit please? Would be nice for the year list and not going to get the chance now to go North (Northumberland etc) or South coast where I've seen them regularly before. Don't recall seeing one in Norfolk before.

Thanks
Jonno

Hi Jonno, I would expect to see Rock Pipits at most places along the coast in winter.
The rocks along Sheringham seafront should produce without too much effort with the added bonus of Turnstones and hopefully Purple Sandpiper anytime soon, otherwise the boatyard at Morston or the harbour at Thornham should all hold several birds over the winter.
