NL Pure 8x32 and NL Pure 10x32! (1 Viewer)

Hi Jan,

Could you measure a few things on the 8x32 compared to the 8x42? I'm thinking of the diameter of the eyepiece eye lens, the smallest circumference at the "waist" and the recess of the objective lenses.

Thanks,

Henry

On paper the Zeiss SF is cheaper, lighter, has closer minimum focus and longer eye relief, so it's no contest ......... on paper. However the NL has that interesting new orange colour (until the armour disintegrates and falls off.) ;)

Only kidding. I am looking forward to reading how they perform.

Ron
Clever move by Sw as to me the orange only looks good against the green so you have to get both! Tom

I'll have them in my hands this afternoon.
Any questions/remarks?

Jan
Please tell me how bad the glare is..

I bought a pair of 10x42 NL's and sent them back because the glare was such an issue..Absolute nightmare.. Plus I also found black outs..
Just bought a pair of 10x42 FP's instead...

Cheers
Tim

That's OK, I forgot. Just wondering about the size, could the 8x32 NL fit in your trouser pocket? Jacket pocket?
I'm a Fjallraven trouser man and every 32 bin fits. Having said that, of all 32's (NL/EL/SF/UV) the UV fits best.
The pockets of my outdoor jackets are big enough to hold the winter gloves so no issue there either.

Hi Tim,

Taking the risk of getting accused of a serious denial desease, I never shared your absolute nightmare, nor did I experience blackouts.
Sorry mate.

Hi Henry,

I only had it for half an hour in my possession but the waist is 35mm for the 32 and 37mm for the 42.
What do you mean by recess of the objective lens?

Jan

Sorry Jan. Chunky Monkey is just something I made up. We have three cats, and they all have multiple names. Silly Sally, Mr. McFluff Fluff (he claims he's Persian), Cowboy Doug, Big Jerk, etc.

Svelte is something I have little experience with but I know the word.

I look forward to your thoughts on the new 32mm.

Mark
Hi Mark,

LOL, You are in serious need of a animal docter.

I would be interested to hear how this compares with the EL x32 particularly the 8x32
Hi Simon,

First of all, the balance of the NL 32 is much better. Second the FOV is 150 meters and really razors harp 'till the edges. I think they didn't expand the FOV further more to keep the edges razor sharp.
Where the EL shows "rolling ball", the NL didn't show that to me. The NL has a higher transmission and (same in EL versus NL 42) shows a brighter, more detailed image. Black is deep black and details of the feathers of a bird just pop up. Having said all this, I like the overall view of the 42 more.
The Dutch weather today was to dull to experience CA.

another comparison photo, my friend Diego Calderon (a prominent ornithologist and bird guide in Colombia) posted a "reveal" video today since Swaro had sent him a pair of the new 8x32, here's a screenshot with the EL SV 8x32, NL Pure 8x32, and NL Pure 8x42:

Someone asked about the Ultravid vs Pure 32 above, here's a photo of the Ultravid next to the EDG 32, the EDG is pretty close to the same size / weight / shape as the NL Pure:

The Ultravid 32 is really incredibly tiny, but IMO it's a bit TOO small for me as a primary birding binocular. The EDG 32, despite the extra size and extra 100g, is much more ergonomically pleasing to me, and I imagine the NL Pure 32 would be too!

Lee, post 23,
I read your post with intense grief, since you should know that climbing the DOM tower is an enlightening tour in the direction of heaven, so everything you carry up, feels like a feather and 48 grams and a headrest feel as if angels are carrying your burden. Not only that but the NL pure 32 is filled with Helium, so must push it down to prevent it from going directly to heaven.
By the way:the picture Jan published with the NL pure 32 must be greatly deformed by the camera lens as you can see from the pictures published by Swarovski in which the NL 32 is shown next to the NL 42.
Gijs van Ginkel
I explained all this in my post Gijs. It only feels like getting closer to heaven because you are rising up from the depths of the Netherlands into the real world!

OK thats enough. Thanks for exchanging some good humour. It is very necessary in these strange times.

I am sure NL 32 is a super bino.
