New but have an urgent question (1 Viewer)

Hello Everyone,
Thank you for letting me join the Bird Forum. I have loved watching birds for a long time, but just in the last two years have been observing them more and reading about them more. My husband and I have many birds in our backyard and we have put up bird houses so the birds can nest. About three or four weeks ago we had a pair of Carolina Wrens pick a nest box on our front porch. The female incubated the eggs and they hatched. Both wrens were coming and going for days feeding the babies, but since yesterday we have not seen the male wren at all. He usually goes on our bird feeders and you can hear him singing away on and off all day, but something must have happened to him because he is just not around anywhere. I have been watching the nest. The female is coming and doing all day and I'm worried that she is going to exhaust from doing all the work? She seems kind of scittish too, constantly checking around and flying up and down by the nest with food in her mouth, but not giving the food sometimes. I was just wondering if anyone else has observed this? Is there something we can do to help her?
Sorry if my post is all over the place. I'm just concerned that she is going to get too weak without the male wren.

Most times if the male goes missing the female will still be able to raise the brood. Unfortunately nature can be hard, but the best thing is to allow it to take its course.

Thank you for the welcome! I'm looking forward to reading the posts on here. Would you tell me where the forum subject list is on the website? I wasn't sure how to post on here and the welcome post showed up, so I put my question here.

Unfortunately I think that the babies have died. She has been coming to the nest since yesterday bringing food, but then not giving it and just flying down on the ground or flying up and sitting on the nest box. I went outside to listen for their cries. I heard them two days ago now there is nothing, even if I gently tap the nestbox. I will check later when I can really get up there to investigate better, but I think this poor birdie lost her mate and babies in a matter of a day. It was very cold Friday night. I live in Pennsylvania. I think that, on top of male being gone, is what did it. Not totally sure, but that's my guess.

I'm really sorry to hear that this nesting attempt has failed. This sort of thing is so hard for us to observe, isn't it.
