Fungi on tree trunk ID (Cumbria, UK) (1 Viewer)

Hello

These small toadstools were found on the trunk of a moss-covered tree (upstanding) in some mixed woodland yesterday.

In case it's relevant, I've also added a photo of one of the few remaining leaves (which looks like a sycamore to me) and also a section of the tree trunk (which looks like something else?).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Can't help with the fungus but the tree looks like Norway maple.

Thanks for the suggestion re the tree, Pete.

The trunk certainly looks to be a better match for Norway Maple - at least from the sketches shown in my Spotter's Guide to Trees! However, I should have mentioned that it was only about 20cm wide and so it was not a mature specimen. What I should have done was to photograph/collect some of the winged seeds, which apparently can be used to separate these two species.

The bark on a 20cm sycamore would be smooth not textured as in the photo.
