Zeiss SFL 8x30? (1 Viewer)

Regarding eye relief here a second - the Zeiss Victory 8x25 has MASSIVE eye relief available, and in fact is better WITH glasses on that not.

Seeing that Zeiss hasn't gone ultra wide field with the 8x30 SFL, eye relief should be stellar.
If that is the case? I'm 'in like Flynn' on these.

I have a Bausch and Lomb 7x36 with the focus on the hinge end. The bin is so short that my fingers hang out over the end of the objectives. I’m wondering if the same would happen with this 8x30.

Size comparison 8x30 vs 8x40, if we assume that the focus wheel is the same size.

If the size-comparison is correct I measure ≈92 mm from the top of the hinge to the end of the barrel.
To avoid "overhang" focusing with your middle finger is most likely needed.

It will be interesting to see whether these are closer to the old EL 8x32s or the CL 8x30s in terms of performance.

Hello everybody.

I was lurking around on some Norwegian web shops when I stumbled across some pictures of a SFL 8x30. I found the pictures when I was flipping through the pictures of a SFL10x40. Does anybody have any info on this? Is there a SFL8x30 in the works? Link to webshop: Zeiss SFL Meget lett og kompakt kvalitets kikkert - Jakt - Alt du trenger til jakt

I can't find those pictures. all I see is the already available x40 model.

Also, where did you find the specs of the new model?

Edit: found the pictures, well integrated into all those hunters' shots.
Still looking for the specs, though.

Already testing them? Or did you sign an NDA...?
LOL, no I had no warning or advance news of these, although, I did wonder.................
My UK contact at Zeiss is on holiday just now and returns early next week, but we will then be on the Western Isles for nearly a month.

I calulate there is 68mm approximately from close to the top edge of the focuser to the end of the barrels and this the same as my fingers curled around a Kowa 32mm bino I happened to have nearby. So it looks as though I could focus with my first and/or middle finger on the focus wheel and have my other fingers around the barrels.

Does anyone have any idea what size it is and how much it weighs? Compared on the photo next to the 40 mm SFL, using a graduated ruler and a simple arithmetic calculation. it seems to be 114-115 mm long. The weight should be between 420-460 grams.

Opportunity knocks at your door at the most inopportune moment, I had just found for sale here in Romania two Zeiss SF 8x32 and 10x32 for 1300 euros each. , and I think I can get them even cheaper because the seller has no documents, box or accessories with them. When I was getting ready to make him an offer, I saw here on the forum the announcement about the new SFL 30 mm, a pair of binoculars that suits me better, having much smaller dimensions and weight, plus much more neutral colors. I'm sure I can get one of the two SF for a maximum of 1000 euros, an excellent price, but I think I'll wait for the first impressions of the new SFL 30 mm

Yes, that's probably fine, with with two fingers on the focuser and two around the barrel.
A bit more space between barrels as well compared to the 40mm.

The similar sized Nikon Monarch HG 8x30 is 450 grams (119 mm long) so you're probably pretty close.

SFL 8x40 is 144 mm long, the 8x30 seem to be ≈115-120 mm.
