First series was excellent and I'm sure the new series will have some spectacular footage and be a technological marvel. I'll definitely watch, but I expect we'll see the same stuff as the original series albeit with a few snippets of behaviour not captured on screen before.

But I wonder if the BBC will ever make something as innovative as Life on Earth again where there's a strong narrative and a definite story being told. Life on Earth was much closer to a science documentary than modern natural history films which are often more about the spectacle.

Yes, Life On Earth was totally mind blowing and unlike anything that had come before. A game changer.
Saw last nights episode of FPII, enjoyed it (apart from the annoying soundtrack - squelchy sounds as the chameleon moved it's eyes, etc). In fact, the footage of the Golden Eagles predating Chamois was totally incredible, i hadn't realised they predated adults. The bit where an eagle carried an adult chamois in the air with one foot before dropping it over the cliff was gobsmacking and had me unintentionally murmuring out loud!

I had wondered at first if the eagle had got a claw caught in the fur or something and wasn't able to let go.

I agree, the footage of the Golden Eagles hunting the Chamois was totally amazing. I was so captivated by their skill and intelligence I didn't even feel sorry for the prey! I also thought the section with the avalanche was terrifying and the drone photography was as good as it gets. We are obviously a bit spoilt these days when we can dismiss such an amazing programme because the background music is too loud.
