Leica Is The Best Forget The Rest! (1 Viewer)

Greetings!

From what I've seen, I'd tend to agree...
I own binoculars from every high-end manufacturer, and my Leica Trinovid 7x42's are the LAST binoculars I'd give up if I ever had to sell them all.

Best wishes,
Bawko

Yeah, but we haven't seen your dog..!

;)

Must admit, I still love my Leica 8x32 BAs (which I've had for ten years now) but I don't really think they're better than the best of the rest, they just suit me really well.

I dont have a dog either but at the same time I dont have 2k to drop on some leica's - in other words, they are great if you have the money -lol - sorry just had to put this in there. BTW, I do have some fancy pants Zeiss fl 8x42's - that was a big time stretch for me, but I love them.

ABSOLUTELY!!! Then again I just sent mine in for mechanical repair so what do I know. Is there anything that can be considered "best"? Everything wears out eventually. We'll see how well they were fixed whenever I get 'em back.

I must say that I tend to agree to an extent. Out of all the high end bins I have owned the Leicas displayed the best overall quality and quality control. I actually chose the 7x42 BNs over a pair of FLs and SLCs last fall.

However, when all was said and done and I had to actually go down to just one bin then it was the Meopta Meostar in 8x42 that I finally ended up with. The build quality, design and optical performance coupled with the price are what finally sold me.

I half agree. Leica IS the best, but I can't forget the rest - they're all too close in quality. Among my Ultravids, Duovid, FL and Swaro EL, I'd have to give them all a "9" out of a possible "10", with Leica's main attribute being it's unparalleled optical performance. But for eye positioning and comfort, give me my FLs, please. And for ergonomics, you guessed it, the ELs.

My ultimate favorite? Hmmm... Zeicaovski! Absolute perfection.

Sorry Dennis,

Can't go along with what you say...
Finest bins on the market are of course the FL's 7x42; sharpness and resolution are that good that I tend to use my Diascope 65 at 17x mag and more for better views and skip the 15x mag of the zoom.

If I only had Swaro EL 10x32 I could start using the scope at 20x mag and up,
man, is that little beauty razor sharp! And better than my FL's in this respect, to my dislike ( sound of grinding teeth here ) but so be it.

Hope you're not too offended... ;-)
Greetings,

Ronald

Yea, but the construction and awe inspiring quality of the Leica's blow me away! They are simply built better than the Zeiss. Better contrast than the Zeiss too. The view is electric!

Not so! Dennis, I think that the altitude is getting to you! I have and enjoy all three models. As to design, execution, performance, and durability, ( optics and body construction) , I would subjectively rank my particular samples on an overly simplified scale of 1-10 as follows:

1. FL : 9.1

2. BR : 8.8

3. EL : 8.5

There will never be a 10. I suspect that we are all looking for that instrument that everyone will rank as a 9.9.

C'mon! I had a pair of Zeiss FL's and just by looking at them they are no way built as good as a Leica. They will not last as long as a Leica. The tolerances and build quality are just not there!
Compare the contrast and color saturation of a Leica and a Zeiss. Try looking at a view with alot of color in it. Notice how alive the view through the Leica is? The Leica color saturation is the best I have seen. You have just not seen the light yet.

What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?

Actually, I believe the Hokey Pokey 10x42's were ranked #2 in the Alula tests, second only to the Chicken Dance 8x42s.
I think what it's really all about is the hokey cokey.

You put your right arm in,
You put your right arm out,
In, out, in, out, shake it all about.
You do the Hokey Cokey
And you turn around.
That’s what it’s all about!
Michael.
