    Hummingbird in Panama City, Panama

No, for many reasons. One reason being they don’t occur in that part of Panama.

    Hummingbird in Panama City, Panama

This mystery hummingbird was taken in the Parque Natural Metropolitano, Panama City on Oct 10 last year. I've gone through all the expected hummingbirds at that hotspot and nothing seems to match up with the tail shape, bronzy tones on the lower back and fully gray breast. I almost wonder if the...

    Myiarchus in Costa Rica

Yeah Costa Rica doesn't have any Ash-throated records on eBird at all.

    Myiarchus in Costa Rica

Needing some help on this Myiarchus sp. in Guanacaste, Costa Rica from this week. The picture and recording are of the same individual. It was fiercely responding to Nutting's playback, but I'm not certain the recording is necessarily a good match for Nutting's, but I'm not real sure...

    Mystery recording from Costa Rica

A couple days ago while in the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica, near Playa Carrillo, mid-morning, I recorded the fairly distant but pretty loud bird song/call in the attached file. Ignore the incessant chipping, it's the bird that calls about 4 times that I'm interested in. Any ideas? I have no...

    Grasshopper/Baird's Sparrow (Arizona)

Good morning, On my trip to Arizona a couple weeks ago I was attempting to relocate some Baird's sparrows that had been found near the Chiricahuas. I flushed up a bird in the grasslands several times that was not like the typical Savannah sparrows. My hunch is it's either a Grasshopper or...

    Small hawk/falcon in Mindo, Ecuador

I studied this bird (taken Feb 8) for a bit and realized all the raptors that somewhat resemble this bird have a lot of variation. Any suggestions on the ID? I'm thinking it's got to be one of the following: Bicolored Hawk Semicollared Hawk Barred Forest-Falcon Collared Forest-Falcon

Tyrannulet/Elaenia type bird in Mindo, Ecuador

Thanks guys, Yellow-crowned Tyrannulet seems like it may be a slightly better fit, though not sure how I could entirely rule Greenish Elaenia out.

Tyrannulet/Elaenia type bird in Mindo, Ecuador

I'm having some trouble with this individual from Mindo, Ecuador on February 7. Any ideas? Has a fairly clear light-colored line in the center of the crest, and a little colored tuft at the rear of the crown.

    Bird in Mindo, Ecuador

I'm rather puzzled by this bird that doesn't seem to match anything in my field guide. It somewhat resembles a Pale-legged Hornero, but clearly has a different bill shape, facial pattern, etc. Taken Feb 13 in Mindo, Ecuador.

Vegetarian or Large Tree-finch? - Galapagos

Here's another angle of the same bird pictured on the ground.

Vegetarian or Large Tree-finch? - Galapagos

The first image (in the tree) was taken on the rim of the Sierra Negra volcano on Isabella, the one on the ground was at the Darwin research station. I'm leaning towards the one perched in the tree being Large Tree-finch and the one on the ground being Vegetarian. The one on the ground was...

    Blackbird from Amazonas, Brazil

I was browsing through some of my photos from Brazil and noticed this bird that I apparently reported as a Velvent-fronted Grackle. That seems off to me now. Perhaps just a Shiny Cowbird? The bill seems fairly pale, but that could be partly due to the way the sun is hitting it, and just bad...
