The Siberian tit need you to travel to the northern third of Sweden. Its quite hard to find but tend to like old conifer trees in old un-touched forests adjacent to the higher parts. You find the Siberian jays in the same places. They can be found further south as well. The attached pic shows...
I have now also done a short test with the HR5 against the Swarovski SLC 8x42 HD. The SLC was made 2010 and is the previous generation.
Ergonomically the focuser, diopter adjustment, eyecups is clearly better on the SLC. On the HR5 the diopter creeps as I walk around. I would say that the SLC...
The thing is that the SF 32s are longer than the small 42s. With a small weight increase you have a 42 with its benefits in about the same package. But maybe no light 42s will compete optically.

The Zeiss is 5 mm longer, 150 vs 145 mm.
The Monarch HG is 90 grams heavier, 680 vs 590 g.

The price is 12490 SEK (1170€) for the MHG...
Thanks for your replies Richard, Jim and Ed.
Clearly this binocular has some credibility capital built up through the years. I think its really good as a all purpose binocular. Today its resolving power helped me give wonderfully detailed views on a few Northern Wheatears, a Whinchat and a...
Continuing on the comparison between the two...
If you wear glasses the Ultravid is much better (perfect) than the Audubon where the field of view become much narrower. In fact even without glasses I like folding the eyecups down => more immersive view.
The focuser and diopter is very good on...
Here is a pic of the binocular, its bag and orig strap. On the left prism housing there is a label "Sveriges Ornitologiska Förening", now known as Birdlife Sverige. This was the official binocular of the society. The best compromise if you would like only one. Back then people often used 7x or...
I bought my pair of 8.5x44 new in the nineties. Used them as my main bino until I bought a Leica Ultravid 8x42 non hd. The Audubon has mostly been on a shelf for above ten years while I have been enjoying the Ultravid mostly for its ergonomics and that it handle the Swedish winter so well. The...
A bit of a mystery bird, thanks for sharing.
The yellowish legs indicate the type of argentatus that we see now and then here in Sweden passing through to Finland. But the small eye and the rounded head does not fit. Perhaps it has fluffed up its feather to create the almost illusion of a very...
Thanks Stew, agree with you on Son Real, such a great place. Perhaps the singing Wren in Boquer was the same I had one or two weeks later. Needed to be cheered up after that disappointing loss in the WC :-)
Now back home in Sweden, some problems with the air travel through France could apparently be solved through flying at 40000 feet. Perhaps a country ATC does not reach that high up.
Friday I spent a few afternoon hours at Boquer in search of raptors. According to some birders from UK I met a...
Afternoon visit to S'Albufera. Flamingos no longer at Es Cibollar 1, hide 12. Many Kentish though 41. Sa Roca a Marbled duck landed in the distance, new sp for my world list. Stilts and swamphen showing nice with Shelduck, as usual. From the obs hill several Purple herons and a Squacco. An...
Family trip Alcudia-Soller-Cuber-Alcudia today. In Soller a strange singing blackcap? Had Finch like jupp jupp in the song. I'll see if I can share a recording later. Just N of Soller at approx 13:30 a dark blackish raptor, short view. Disappeared before I could spot it with binos. Medium to...
