    Usually very many in Turkey at this time of year. It's in juvenile plumage which is probably why you struggled with the identification.

    Thanks Mick. I already have Richard Brooks' guide and a fairly good map onto which I've plotted more modern info that I've gleaned from the many trip reports that are available online. I reconnoitred the island in autumn myself last year and kind of have a plan of action in place based on that...
