Gull species, Greenwich, London - 14 July

Which gull species is this? Taken at low tide on the River Thames yesterday in a large flock of HG, LBBG, GBBG and a couple of YLG. I think Gull 1 is a different bird from Gull 2 and 3 (which are the same bird from a different angle). Features - 1. whitish head and breast 2. dark eye mask 3...

Rock Pipit? East London River Thames, UK

Update: what about Scandinavian Rock Pipit? This would explain the pale legs. This bird was seen in east London where all the wintering Rock Pipits are of this sub-species. The nominate species is very rare there.

Rock Pipit? East London River Thames, UK

Thanks for the responses so far. Are you sure on Rock, and not Water? I had this response just now from an experienced birder at the BTO, who is confident this is Water. "The bird in the photograph is a Water Pipit. The soft streaking and sullied underparts rules out Meadow Pipit, which has...

Rock Pipit? East London River Thames, UK

I saw this bird feeding on the rocky banks of the River Thames in East London this morning. Is this a Rock Pipit? Its pale legs and pale base to the bill are making me doubt this. Or is the bird transitioning into summer plumage and out of its duller winter plumage? Am I right to rule out both...

Seen in rural Slovenia in August. On roof. Finally, It would also be fantastic if you don't mind explaining...

Slovenia August 2015 - Pipit and Duck ID

What about a juvenile / 1st winter Water Pipit? And would the first two duck photos be female Ferruginous due to the dark eye, number three being male?

Interesting. If it is a Sparrowhawk, what is it's age and sex?

Slovenia August 2015 - Goshawk and Shag?

The hawk seemed quite large to me. It came very close to the hide I was in and appeared to me anyway to be approaching towards Buzzard size. I thought Goshawk at the time as: 1. Orange eye (sparrowhawk yellow from what I've read) 2. Very strong white eyebrow which connects at the back of the...
