    Ok I submit, I have just looked at the photos again and its an Osprey. So I guess they can have darker features. Were we right about the other bird being its mate (male) ?

    Hang on a minuet, that was too easy. If you look closely it has a brown head, and the tail is completely brown. i have some more pic's so i will try to sort them out. The head and tail were very distinct not like any pictures we have of Ospreys? We have seen the pair around a few times so...
