    Common Bird in NorthEaster Illinois

Hi all. I found this bird in the middle of a bean field. It was having trouble flying. Rather than have to walk around exposed in the bean field, I picked it up and laid it in some brush with plenty of sticks to jump around on. Is this some type of sparrow? Seemed really small.

Can anyone identify this growth, parasite?

If that is a tick, I fear for my life! I go hiking a lot with my dogs, and I have run into all sorts of ticks at every stage. That does not look like a tick at all. They should not get that big. Wouldn't the bird be able to pull it off if it were a tick?

What kind of hummingbird is this?

Hello, I had to rescue this little gal (I think it's a girl) from my garage today. She took some time to come around, but she eventually flew off safe and sound. I'm just curious as to what type she was. I live in Northeastern Illinois.

    NE Illinois bird? (video)

Hey all, saw this neat looking bird the other day. Too far for my little pocket cam to take a decent picture, so I tried a video. Not a whole lot to go on, but its feature seem pretty distinctive. Any ideas what this is? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZaJuBkYQwc&feature=relmfu

    Common birds in NE Illinois

That last sound file does sound like them. I just did a quick search, and it had a different call. Do males and females make different calls? Do females tend to stay in groups? The female version of the Laplands Longspurs fits the general profile from what I see. Gosh, this is hard lol. Maybe...

    Common birds in NE Illinois

Definitely not Horned Larks. I can't say exactly their coloration, but they are more of a simple dark color on top with a lighter coloration on bottom. They remind me of like the simple look of a sparrow. But I can't tell if it's brown or black on top or a white or light tan on bottom. They're...

    Common birds in NE Illinois

Hello. I don't know much about birds, but I've been trying to find out what type of birds I run into a lot. My dog likes to chase them, and the birds seem to actually enjoy it. They tease him, fly low to the ground in swooping circles. It's quite fun. But I'm not sure exactly what they are...
