    Eurasian Blackbirds?

Yes that would be a good idea if you can, showing the missing bill colour (accepted it could be soil) and and eye ring. Cnsider the top two birds to be Adult male (Same bird below) and the bottom a female

    Eurasian Blackbirds?

There is something very un-Blackbird about thede pics to my eye although I cannot offer an alternative. The bird sees Bulky? Black heavy bill? Six usually territorial birds foraging together? Did any of the male birds support a bright yellow bill? Probably just me but ................

    Quail? Charente/France, 17/08/2023

This thread seems to have taken a different route than its original title, and interesting diversion never-the-less. I am fortunate in that when we cannot birdwatch together my Son (Bewick) generally phones me and we have a virtual birding session in the field. 1 The original photo was not of...

I disagree Butty. Bewick is asking for an ID not conformation of what he believes the bird to be. Identifacation from ground zero rather than another lengthy argument/debate as to why it' is' or 'is not' what he considers it to be with the hope of attracting expertise rather than a open debate...

    Hoopoe or Hoax

Feasably genuine. This effect (The background in particular) is often the result of overdoing image sharpening with programs like 'Topaz - gigapixel Ai' and the like

    Warblers, France- Charente, 05/06/2023

Comments appreciated Butty and all others. My Son has very little experience with cameras, editing and the like and I gave him a Canon 5D mk II, a 100-400mm canon lens and an editing program to take with him basically for ID shots and he's still finding his way around the whole kit, with...

    Charente- France, Sparrowhawk?, 02/06/2023

As usual thanks for your various opinions they are most appreciated and I will leave it up to my Son to decide. He is an exceptionally keen and good young Birder who has always steered in the lane of caution when it comes to ID. I personally found these pictures lacking in defining detail...

    Charente- France, Sparrowhawk?, 02/06/2023

How certain are you on your ID from these poor images please Lou 100% ? The problem is I dont want my Son to fall into the trap of submitting poor quality images and depending on Birdforums concensus of opinions to start adding the bird in question to his tick list. Thats a form of desperate...
