Hi Rach I think it is fair to say that I'm missing Mallorca SO much!! It's been fab weather up here since we got back, with some good birds to boot, but it's not the same as a wander up C'an Curassa and meeting so many lovely folk as well as some top birds. Be back soon. As always a BIG thanks...

    Mallorca 2016

Last day of this trip… Today I walked back to C'an Curassa for a leisure stroll, just to soak up the landscape, flowers and birds before I depart home tomorrow. Almost immediately I met (Swiss) Mike and his wife and we enjoyed a good chat up the track to where I had seen all those species along...

S'Albufera today My partner and I decided to take the bus from PdP to Alcudia today. Excellent service, from the Pollença Park Hotel direct to the reserve entrance. 1.80€. Amazing value. First bird seen was a fine Night Heron followed by the massed Egrets, Cattle and Little on the canal bushes...

    Mallorca 2016

C'an Curassa once again… I decided once again to have a bash around this area and am so glad I did! Walking along the shoreline from PdP, I unfortunately managed to put up a pair of Kentish Plovers, which I hadn't noticed. It's a busy road and area, with plenty of fishermen, but do they breed...

Boquer Valley today.. Despite the rain (at least it's warm rain!!) I walked through PdP to Boquer Valley, to have the sun come out as I got there. 2-3 Pied Flys, 1 Spot Fly, 1 Woodchat Shrike, 2 Wrynecks calling and a really obliging Blue Rock Thrush just before the gates. Also here were a pair...

    Mallorca 2016

A walk - and a half… Today me & Alan (who I met yesterday) decided to walk (along!) to Albufereta from PdP. A nice m Crossbill in a villa garden near the hotel set us up for a good day, despite the drizzly rain. At Torrent de Albuferta were 7 Kentish & 2 Ringed Plovers. Birds seen from the...

    Mallorca 2016

A great walk around today… I walked from PdP along the shore to C'an Curasssa, then along the roads inland. In order of appearance were: Yellow Wag (Ibeariae), Stonechat, Zitting Cisticola (which gave superb views!), a 1st yr male Montagu's Harrier, Marsh Harrier, Kestrel, Corn Bunting, Hoopoe...

    Tayforth Birding

Alex I'll see you at Gerry's funeral on Friday. As Rob said a very sad loss indeed to Scottish Birding, never mind Fife, Lothians etc. One of life's real ''good guys''. I still can't believe I won't be able to spend time with Gerry again. Malc
