    Long-tailed Blues Brighton etc

I saw 3 males easily yesterday morning. One extremely worn. Many eggs have been laid - so you may want to wait for the emergence from mid- September. Park in Monument View

Ultimate Indonesia: 4 month search for endemics

Ross - sounds like a great few days on Halmahera. I went to Foli with a crew in 2003 and had a great time. We searched very hard for Purple Dollarbird without success - but did see quire a few Common Dollarbirds. I'm just interested in whether you saw Common Dollarbirds as I sometimes think we...

    RFI Norfolk Hawker

Had a meeting in Bedford this morning - so took the opportunity to pop into Little Paxton early PM. Excellent views of a single NH at the same location as Dave & Larry - including perched a few times close to the path, on a low branch in the water.

    Orchids in Cyprus

Am currently staying in Coral Bay near Paphos. Still a good number of Ophrys on show although many are over of course. Although Naked Man Orchid is common - I have not seen any. Am I too late ?? If not - any suggestions on where to look plus other good spots generally would be great. Many thanks

First was 10 years ago when there were many Pine Grosbeaks in southern Scandinavia, including in Uppsala, Sweden and a Hawk Owl at nearby Knutby. Ryanair flight to Vasteras did the trick. The real mega was a Siberian Tit coming to feeders in a...

    UK dragonflies and damselflies, 2015

Thanks for all the helpful tips. Back now after a couple of days in Inverness. Managed a few hours at Loch Maree and scored with a couple of Azure Hawkers (see attached) and a single Northern Emerald in flight. Weather became wet and windy with not many dragons active. These were all at...

    UK dragonflies and damselflies, 2015

Am thinking Loch Arkaig for Azure Hawker. A simple drive from Inverness. Have seen Chequered Skipper there in the past. Anyone with experience of Azure Hawker at this site ??

    UK dragonflies and damselflies, 2015

I will be in Inverness 3-6 July and will likely have time for a couple of trips out. Where are the nearest sites for a chance of Azure Hawker and Northern Emerald ? Is there anywhere nearer than Loch Maree ? Also proposing to try for White-faced Darter & Northern Damsel @ Loch Garten. All...
