Harrier and wheatear (?) -- Geiseltalsee, Germany

Not very helpfully, I think -- here's the full recording I made, with more wind and not much else!

Harrier and wheatear (?) -- Geiseltalsee, Germany

There were certainly stonechats nearby (I saw them a few minutes later), so that might fit.

Harrier and wheatear (?) -- Geiseltalsee, Germany

This was at the top end of a vineyard/tree plantation area on a slope above the lake. No reeds within 100m or so. I scanned the tree frames and wires of the vineyard, but saw no sign of the bird.

Harrier and wheatear (?) -- Geiseltalsee, Germany

Can anyone help with a couple of IDs from a visit last week to Geiseltalsee (lake surrounded by fields) in Germany? The first I think is a hen harrier (rather than Pallid or Montagu's) -- I'm not familiar with the other harriers, but I gather five fingers rather than four rules them out? The...

    Lesser whitethroat? Spreewald, Germany

I"ve never knowingly seen or heard one -- ebird maps suggest it's much less likely in this area.

    Lesser whitethroat? Spreewald, Germany

Can anyone confirm whether the bird in the attached recording (at e.g. 2 seconds and 11 seconds in) is a lesser whitethroat? I was sure when I heard it, and birdnet agreed, but it's very early for this area (near Vetschau in the Spreewald region of Germany; the bird was in a bush near a lake...

    Goshawk? Berlin

Yes -- I've had glimpses in the Tiergarten, but they're easier to locate in a smaller area! This was in one of the churchyards. :)

    Goshawk? Berlin

Thanks -- it's good to be sure!

    Goshawk? Berlin

I went looking for the famous Berlin goshawks today -- can I check whether I actually found one, rather than a female sparrowhawk? There were male sparrowhawks around as well, and this bird was significantly bigger -- I had an impression of buzzard size. If it helps, I can also provide an audio...

    Raptor -- Cottbus, Germany

Any thoughts on this raptor flying into some trees today (meadow/reed environment, city outskirts)? At the time our impression was buzzard-sized, but too flappy in flight for buzzard, so we thought sparrowhawk and misestimated size. Looking at the photos, the black wingtips suggest marsh harrier...

Gull, Peitzer Teiche, Brandenburg -- Germany

Hi, is it possible to ID this gull, seen on its own today? Lake/fields landscape. Both pictures are of the same bird (unfortunately I couldn't get a clear picture of the upper side).

    Which crest? Cottbus, Germany (audio)

One more question for this year! Can anyone confirm whether this recording is of a firecrest or a goldcrest? (Merlin IDed it as firecrest, for what it's worth, which would be more interesting for this time of year). The recording is from December 11th.

BOP -- Raddusch (Spreewald, Northeast Germany)

Unfortunately I can't really add much on behaviour -- I'm familiar with kestrels, but not merlins, and there was nothing un-kestrel-like; it rose steeply from behind some trees, then flew off over the small lake out of sight. :(

BOP -- Raddusch (Spreewald, Northeast Germany)

Is it possible to ID the rear end of this BOP (unfortunately flying away from me), seen this morning in a grassland/small lake area? Could it be a Merlin (single black band on end of tail, orangey underside)?
