If this link works, the view from my new tower ...home to Cranes, Bittern, Marsh Harrier et al. And some Whooper Swan cygnets :) https://photos.app.goo.gl/woW5wKp8JL15aSZZ7

Built this week - immediately paid dividends with the Whooper Swan cygnets, no way I would have seen them from the ground

Whooper Swans, Breeding Confirmed. 2 June. Finally got to see the Whooper Swan cygnets, mega shy parent birds! Since the nest was vacated on 26 May, I had only seen the adults a couple of times ...and then just peering over reeds and promptly cruising off. All signs pointed to chicks in tow...

Odonata and us (still in Poland, but not for long)

The good news is the Odonata season will continue till the very end of October, subject to prevailing weather at the end.

Odonata and us (still in Poland, but not for long)

Probably worth noting that spring 2021 is the coldest, wettest and latest for many many years - can't speak for Poland, but many insects in Lithuania are 3-4 weeks later this year than typically. Not this year, but often see the first Siberian Winter Damselflies here in March, even seen at the...

Odonata and us (still in Poland, but not for long)

I had imagined Poland would have more species than that - only six more than in Lithuania and Poland covers a far greater geographic area with greater diversity of habitats north to south.

    Walrus in Ireland

Most, or maybe all, EU countries have a constitution that would make it illegal to prevent their own citizens returning. In most or all cases, however, they do however have to test negative and isolate on return from red-listed countries, this including the UK in specific cases.

    Walrus in Ireland

What's typical? Twice in this thread it is stated that people from Britain are banned from France and Austria (though I failed to see the link between the Walrus and Austria ... typical Adcock). I pointed out that actually it is British persons resident in Britain that are subject to...

    Walrus in Ireland

Englishman living in England is banned. The restrictions do not include British that are resident anywhere in the EU - I can freely travel to Austria (and France) without any restriction ...and due to vaccination, also no isolation required or Covid tests. Think the Walrus's odds are still lower.

Evening on the Marsh. 1 June. Simply beautiful. To a setting sun, my Whooper Swans quietly led their cygnets off to a hidden pool, clouds of Black-headed Gulls hawked for emerging insects, a Hobby swooped in to take dragonflies. A backdrop of noise, a chorus of calls echoing out across the...

26 May. Honey and Babies. Diabolical rain and wind in the early half of the day, fortunately brightening later to a sunny evening. A splendid Honey Buzzard low over my cabin the day's highlight, though the arrival of babies in the flood forest a very close second - Cranes with chicks paddling...

    Where will you go?

Don't need to wait till 1 July, can already travel to several EU countries freely if with Covid vaccination and to most of the others with a negative test. However, with your definition of 'stupidity' and 'absurd', very good that you don't want to travel, there'll be many that don't want you...
