    Lammergeier in Crete

I'm off for a family holiday in Crete in early July. Anyone know of any reliable sites for lammergeier in recent years? Cheers.

Menorca, red footed falcon For those on Mallorca. Keep an eye out for red footed Falcons. I had a lovely male on north West Menorca yesterday with kestrels. Plenty of black kite and booted Eagles also. Calling scops owl outside my bedroom Was a bonus!

    Mallorca 2015

I too went to the central plains around 2pm. Nothing except common kestrel and a booted eagle over. On the way home I called in at Depuradora where we had no Falcons at all but it was very hot. Marbled duck and osprey were the highlights. After a tip off by another UK birder we called into Club...

    Mallorca 2015

Hi Mike. Sorry no pics from me I'm afraid. On the way out of the reserve they were flying low over the track hunting dragonflies and there were plenty of cameras pointing in their direction so hopefully there will be some pics posted. On a family visit to Pollensa town I got lucky with 1...

Terrific morning at Albufera. Temmincks stint, little stint, curlew and loads of wood sands, ruff, spotted reds, snipe, marbled duck, gallinules, crested coots, osprey, moustached and great reed warblers, whiskered tern and a large group of red footed Falcons. The falcon flock must have been 40...

You had a great start to your trip Mick. Nice chatting to you yesterday. Not seen an oriole this trip yet, but have heard a male singing. Joe, your wader is a ruff.

    Mallorca 2015

Thanks Mike. I will try there if time allows. A quick look at Albufereta this lunchtime was fairly quiet but added woodchat shrike, stone curlew, great egret, singing golden oriole to the holiday list.

Blue rock thrush and black vulture also present. Wood warbler and plenty of singing firecrests on the way up. The small lake near...

I have the old style diascope with the zoom lens. I just got an I phone 5c. Does anyone out there know if there is a suitable adapter for this combination? Many thanks. Kev.

    Sinaharaja rain forest...Sri Lanka

Hi Dave. Spent two days there birding and really enjoyed it. Did see two snakes and a good few leaches here though. Point blank blue magpies, serendib scops and frogmouths only a couple of feet away. Feeding flocks with lots of endems but would be tricky for photos. I bribed my wife with extra...

Tendaba, Gambia - day trip ?

Hi. I was in a similar position. We did it in a day trip from the coast. Set off very early, around 3 am or so and got back late. Got lots of good birds including White backed night heron but dipped the fin foot here. Long day but ok. Confirm your price with your guide first though.
