    Thanks - just did some measuring of fence post & figure bird is about 17 to 19 inches from tip of tail to top of head. Size seems to fit for Cooper's, but I am a novice so thank you!

    The widest part of the fence post top measures 5 1/2 inches wide. So the bird must be approximately 17 to 19 inches from tip of tail to top of head. Thanks again everyone!

    Haven't measured the fence post tops yet, but I got some more pics on 4/3 (through a wet window while raining). These finally show better view of back & tail.

    Thank you - didn't realize that! As suggested I will measure post top & post pic taken from same spot of a dove on same post for size reference. The hawk(s) have been visiting our new construction subdivision for a few years that I've noticed. Lots of hunting going on!
