    Rebel XSi

I purchased the XSI about 6-weeks ago. Just getting back into photography so didn't want to spend too much money. I have been very happy with the Rebel XSI. It is very easy to use and takes great pictures. I had much more trouble figuring out my point and shoot than I did the Rebel. I am sure...

    Lens dilemma

Vectis, How do you like the L 400? Is a person better off with the L 400 than an L 100-400? Would the L 400 provide high quality pictures than an L 100-400 zoom? I do not know, but will take all the advice I can get. Best of luck with your new lens! Lew

    Lens dilemma

John: I meant the difference between the 70-200 and the converter versus the 100-400. Per BH photo I show that the difference is $440. L 70-200 $580 Televonverter 280 ----- $860 ==== L 100-400, after rebate...

    Lens dilemma

I am fairly new to digital photography, and I do not mean to offend anyone, but why buy the Canon L 70-200 and a converter? Why not put out another $400 and get the Canon L 100-400. It is all personal choice, but I have never been a fan of the 70-200 range of zooms - always wanting more or less...

    Canon EOS Rebel XSI

Thinking about getting back into photography. Now use binoculars to birdwatch, but now thinking about photos also. Looking at the Canon EOS Rebel XSI deal with the 2 lenses - 18-55 and 55-250. Would probably use the camera mainly for nature and bird photography. Really did not want to spend...

    Swarovski Pocket 10x25 Binocular

I tried a pair of the Swarovski compact at a birding fair. They have what appears to be a rubber band as an eyecup. The band kept rolling off the bins. Made me wonder about them. Love my 8.5 EL, but not sure about their compacts. Tried them just that one time. I have an inexpensive pair of...

    Swarovski 8x32 vs. 8.5x42 EL

Why are binoculars so much more expensive in Europe? Why do bins cost 1/3 more in Germany than they do in the U.S? Makes me feel happy for getting the 8.5 EL for $1699 a year ago. The only thing I can figure out is that the Europeans are very wealthy and they can afford the high prices. And...

    Swarovski 8x32 vs. 8.5x42 EL

At the present exchange rate, that would make the new 8.5 ELs cost $3,078 in the United States. EagleOptics is presently giving a 10% discount off the list price of the 8.5 EL. A 10% discount would still make them $2,770. Oh, my!

Has anyone tried the Switch Power Golden Rings?

Good review. I went and looked at the bins at EagleOptics web site. Pleasantly surprised at the good eye-relief and the low weight. A little disappointed at the narrow FOV. I also will be interested in reading more reviews. Lew

    Prices up again!

Just went to EagleOptics web site. Appears Leica prices are up at least $100. See below, copied from EagleOptics web site Leica Ultravid HD 10x42 Binocular Extreme optical power. Our Price: $2,295.00 Would imagine Swarovski, Zeiss will soon be raising their prices. I am tired of U.S...

    Black-Bellied Whistling Duck

Thursday June 20th, about 6:00 pm I saw a black-bellied whistling duck at Spring Lake Park, just out side of Macomb, Illinois. Quite a bit outside of its range, but I was close, and it has obvious markings. Went This morning also, but did not see it. Lew

Leica Ultravid 10x25 BCR vs Nikon Premier LX L 10x25

Wally: Have you compared the 8X20 Leica to the 8X20 Nikon LXL? If so, I would be interested in hearing what you thought. Lew
