    Back at College Res today. Basically the same stuff around as what dan saw yesterday, except didn't have the grebe or shovler, but did have 2 bitterns Nice to see that hybrid wigeon back again this winter, is this the 3rd winter in a row it's been here now? Nice BN grebe photos by the way Warren!

    College Res The Reservoir was looking nice in the sun today, Highlight was a bittern, nice to see one back again this winter. Ducks: many tufted duck and wigeon, very small numbers of pochard, teal and gadwall, 1 female goldeneye The ssual gulls, cormerants, herons, coots, moorhens etc...

    Pendennis, swanpool etc Loads of birders out today - was nice to catch up with a few. Had the RN grebes in the bay (Nice find Dan!). Also, 3 purple sandpipers on the point. Other birds included 3 turnstones and a little egret on castle beach and 100+ shags feeding off Swanpool. 2 acrobatic...

    Buzzards do vary a lot in size, and when the hover they generally hold their wings back , giving the wings a more angular and possible 'tidy' profile.. That would be my guess anyway ;)

    Quick wander round College res this afternoon was quite productive: A flock of 'pigeons' turned out to be c20 stock doves c30 wigeon c20 each of BH and herring gull c20 tufties c25 coot c10 grey heron 2 Gadwall (f+m) 1 kingfisher fishing Usual mix of other tits, finches, goldcrests etc...

    Hi Warren, I was the guy who saw you where the swans were. It was good to meet you. Didn't find the heron this time despite waiting around for quite a while, but nice to meet more lacal birders!

    Purple Heron Went up to college reservoir in search of the cormerant this afternoon. The search was instantly cut-short when a purple heron :eek!: flew out from the dam end of the reservoir to near the island.

    Pendennis I'm not especially experienced when it comes to seawatching, but took a stroll up to Pendennis this morning in faily unfavourable wind conditions. Drake common scoter was the highlight. Also 4 auk sp., 1 med gull. Everpresent gannets did most of the entertaining, although mostly far out.

    Penryn estuary Hey, Feel like I've been neglecting Falmouth birding for a while.. Here's what was at Gorrangorras this evening nearing high tide: 1 Bar-tailed godwit 27 Curlew, later joined by a further 40 (presumably from college reservoir?) c50 Redshank 15 Oystercatchers 5 Greenshank 1...
