This Heron came at me low over the reed-beds about an hour after dawn on a grey day.
I just like the way its wings reflect the mood of the day (a bit downbeat)
This youngster gave me a master class in how to catch, crack and dispatch a snail. He was about 20 ft from me on the path and was only interested in breakfast. A pleasure to watch.
Lucky enough to come across a team ringing birds at Lakenheath Fen RSPB reserve.
This little juvenile was very calm and was handled expertly.
Worth getting there at first light for.
The 50-500 is a lens for all reasons. I love mine. (view my gallery for birds).
It can be use for identifying birds caught fleetingly with its reasonably fast AF or it easy to manipulate manual focus. The AF is very quiet.
The OS is very good and quiet to but does take about 1/2 sec to function...
Fledgeling House Sparrow who was eating with family.
Parents still feeding but he/ she couldn't resist seeing what was edible.
Quality of shot inhibited by dirty double glazing
