    After a friend of mine saw this bird (beginning of October, Hel Penninsula, N Poland) it became immediately clear to us that the identification here will be far from straightforward. Or, then, maybe it won't be? What are your thoughts?

    Thank you guys! Are you absolutely sure though? Aren't the eyes and ears a bit on the smallish side for Yellow-necked / Wood and more fitting for, say, House Mouse (paler, yellowish variants of which also do occur)?

    and here individual two with an additional photo as well. True, the birds (flying together) were distant and gave not too prolonged views, but still – an overall structure and even some important plumage characters can be seen in both individuals. I have every confidence in your ID skills.

    graellsii or intermedius - understood, but not just slightly too much white on outer primaries for heuglini?
