Almost every village, town or city has a winter roost. Plus, there are numerous roosts around human settlements. The biggest one is in the town of Kikinda with 430 birds during December 2007! You would love to see this world record roost.
We have just finished a big Long-eared Owl winter roost survey in Serbia. We counted almost 18,000 birds in about 400 roosts. I will post some more info soon. See some photos on:

Dear all,
can you help in identification of this bird of prey? Photos are not very good as the light was very poor. The bird was observed at the Fruska Gora National Park, Vojvodina, N Serbia on April 4 2008.
