I really like the colors of this bird. But this is one of the only photos i've gotten of a male cardinal, since they seem to be very shy about perching on the feeder and don't remain still for long.
Instead, they seem to prefer to forage on the ground on seeds that the woodpeckers scatter...
I've always found it creepy how their wing bones seem to be made up of four elongated fingers and a thumb... almost like a human hand!

I've been very pleased with the FZ18 so far. You can see some of the better pictures i've gotten in my gallery. Haven't had time to use it for a lot of bird pictures yet, though, so i've also got some close up macro shots of wildflowers and a few other odds and ends using the camera.
I can't seem to find a bird photo to identify this fellow, but it looks like it might belong to the dove family. It is perching on a pipe next to the dam.
This bird was in heaven. They were running the turbines at the dam and fish were piled up on the water at the bottom of the dam like sardines in a can.
